At Kravet, we are inspired every day by color. We’re also inspired, like all of you, by all of the amazing women in our lives. This month is Breast Cancer Awareness month, so we’re thinking pink.
When we began researching the many ways to incorporate the color pink into a home interior, we were amazed by how many thoughtful and sophisticated ways talented designers are using pink, and by all of the colors that perfectly coordinate. Check out a few of our favorite rooms using pink in both bold and subtle ways.

Every designer and style lover we know gasped with delight during Sex and the City 2 when Carrie Bradshaw leaned in and confessed, “I’ve been cheating on fashion with furniture.” Many fans, including in our own office, lamented the loss of NYC, also known as “the fifth character,” but there was plenty of atmosphere eye candy to go around.
We did have a spirited debate in the office about the use of the word “couch” v. “sofa” and whether Mr. Big was exaggerating when he said they waited a year and a half to receive their own custom sofa (an 8-10 week lead time is standard in our industry). All joking aside, the interior design was fabulous. The spaces each character inhabited in the film were a reflection of the characters’ core personalities and the transformation in their lives over the past few years.

The blogs have been lighting up for weeks now with photos and detailed recaps of the amazing interiors, many of which feature Kravet and Lee Jofa products. We were honored to be included in the film. We have worked often with set designer Lydia Marks and design firm Martin Albert Interiors to help realize these beautiful interiors, so we wanted to share a few photos.
What did you think of the aesthetics of the film? Did they measure up to the high standard of style that fashion has set over the years? Did the interiors reflect the characters lives in a way that was true to the original series? Do you have an opinion on the “couch” v. “sofa” debate? Leave your comments below, we love to hear from you!
Trends in home interiors: color, texture, shape, pattern and prints, have always been linked to fashion. Not too long ago, trends that emerged in fashion took several seasons to influence trends in interior design, but this has changed. With information exchanged at a fast, if not immediate rate, interior design is often on pace with, if not ahead of, trends in fashion.
Lee Jofa's new partnership with Oscar de la Renta is an exciting one. Mr. de la Renta is one of the most influential and revered tastemakers in fashion, and he is now making waves by expanding into home interiors, including a line of exquisite fabrics. The benchmarks of his success as a fashion designer ensure that he is uniquely suited to make this leap.
The signature "look" of any fashion house helps guide the process of creating a line of products for the home. Oscar de la Renta conjures up words like elegant, tailored, timeless, sophisticated. He is known for bold, saturated hues on fabrics like silk, colorful hand-knotted embroidery on linen, ethnic-inspired prints and weaves on silk and cotton blends, delicate combinations of pleating ruffles and embroidery. All of these things demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship that aligns perfectly with the Lee Jofa brand.
Last week we had the great honor of attending Mr. de la Renta’s presentation of Resort 2011, and we saw many trends in pattern, color and texture that have excited designers in our studio for months as samples of his upholstery fabrics arrived one by one. Many of our favorite looks from the show closely represent the colors and textures that will be available to adorn to your windows, walls, sofas and more beginning in a few short months. Enjoy! -JP and AF
