As summer marches towards it inevitable close, there is still one thing to cross off the to-do list before fall makes its entrance. Book a flight, rent a car, hop on the train: this is the final week to visit this year’s Traditional Home Hampton Designer Showhouse in Bridgehampton, NY, featuring the work of recognized designers from across the country.
This year, designers Jennifer Mabley and Austin Handler, from the prominent Hamptons design firm Mabley Handler, transformed a bedroom using furniture and fabric from Kravet. The design duo is known for a classic, elegant style that is subdued and serene, but this year they wowed everyone with a bedroom that is bold, colorful and graphic.
The duo used several fabrics from the Diane von Furstenberg for Kravet collection, which launched this summer. Working with a midnight blue palette, they combined pattern and texture to brilliant effect. The Stone Harbor Linen-upholstered custom king Madrigal bed provided a soothing counterpoint to the graphic DVF China Club indigo coverlet and shams, and DVF signature Funky Zebra draperies and Westbury chair. The Wrapped Desk in Navy linen and custom colored Rosa chest reinforce the navy color scheme, with a pop of orange from the Van Buren sofa in Dungaree coral linen. The result is a chic, punchy twist on a classic Hamptons color palette, marked by thoughtful accents and attention to detail.
If you find yourself in Bridgehampton between now and Labor Day, don’t miss a chance to see the bedroom in person, and tour the rest of the house. Now in its 14th year, it is recognized as one of the country’s most successful showhouses. Tickets are $35, with proceeds benefitting Southampton Hospital.
