The Golden Age of Hollywood
Ric Owens, All About Eve
By now the idea of warm weather is embedded into all of our minds throughout the U.S. So far, the only state that has not seen any snow is Florida. So what better time to see what the design industry in a sunnier state has to offer!

I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of this year’s DCOTA DesignHouse before the opening night VIP gala on January 18th. The house has a very cool concept, marrying the iconic classics of Hollywood film with the design tastes and styles of Southern Florida's most notable designers. New and seasoned designers interpreted classics such as Mary Poppins, Some Like it Hot!, Gentleman Prefer Blondes and more. Marilyn was represented everywhere from large oversized photography to her favorite colors and dress styles as inspiration.

Some trends I noticed: wall coverings were everywhere from flocked velvets and metallics to our favorite Cole & Son Woods pattern. I even spotted Bahamian straw hand-woven by local craftsman and sewn directly onto the wall. Tile floor so reminiscent of Southern Florida did not disappoint, but this time it featured mosaic designs with gilded stones, which covered walls too.
William Bernard Design Group, Boys Night Out
Each environment told some portion of the plot of the selected movie, with 20 breathtaking installations in all. If you are traveling anywhere near Dania Beach, FL, the DCOTA DesignHouse is not an event to be missed!
