GREEN...
This is the hottest and most confusing topic in the furniture world.
What is Green and whose definition do you trust? Who is doing all the research and how do you know it is valid? Kravet is working with our partner manufacturers to sort through all this information and reduce our impact on the environment. We are trying but there is still so much to be explored and learned.
Here are some of the earth-friendly features currently found in Kravet’s furniture lines:
1. High-density, soy-based foam seat cushion, which reduces oil and energy consumption while maintaining support and longevity.
2. Ticking (cotton envelope) is a 200 thread count all-cotton material
3. Fiberfill used in back pillows is made of 100% post-consumer fibers (recycled), which helps reduce the amount of waste that makes it into landfills.
4. Down and feather blends are an all-natural protein product, which is washed and sterilized before use in our cushions.
5. Springs are composed of recycled metal
6. The wood in our frames is selected from well-managed facilities that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
7. Coming soon… Kravet Smartline Furniture: Eco-Smart Classic and Eco-Smart Modern!
We have been working hard to be responsible.
A simple way to be green is to take good care of your furniture. I know this sounds radical or cutting edge, but hear me out: By treating your furniture with care, you will not only get to keep it longer; when the time comes to replace it you can pass it on to someone else who may need it. Donating your well cared for furniture will not only help an individual or family but will also keep your unwanted furniture from the landfills and not contribute to further deforestation. So get out your vacuums. Fluff and rotate your cushions and pillows. We all work hard for the things we have, so taking care of them is well worth the effort. We encourage you to donate your well cared for used goods to a local charity. You will be helping members of your own community and helping the planet as well.
Have you donated? Can you help us identify good charities that can use well cared for used furniture? If you are aware of any deserving charities or organizations in your area post them here in your reply for all to see!
