Trends in home interiors: color, texture, shape, pattern and prints, have always been linked to fashion. Not too long ago, trends that emerged in fashion took several seasons to influence trends in interior design, but this has changed. With information exchanged at a fast, if not immediate rate, interior design is often on pace with, if not ahead of, trends in fashion.
Lee Jofa's new partnership with Oscar de la Renta is an exciting one. Mr. de la Renta is one of the most influential and revered tastemakers in fashion, and he is now making waves by expanding into home interiors, including a line of exquisite fabrics. The benchmarks of his success as a fashion designer ensure that he is uniquely suited to make this leap.
The signature "look" of any fashion house helps guide the process of creating a line of products for the home. Oscar de la Renta conjures up words like elegant, tailored, timeless, sophisticated. He is known for bold, saturated hues on fabrics like silk, colorful hand-knotted embroidery on linen, ethnic-inspired prints and weaves on silk and cotton blends, delicate combinations of pleating ruffles and embroidery. All of these things demonstrate a commitment to craftsmanship that aligns perfectly with the Lee Jofa brand.
Last week we had the great honor of attending Mr. de la Renta’s presentation of Resort 2011, and we saw many trends in pattern, color and texture that have excited designers in our studio for months as samples of his upholstery fabrics arrived one by one. Many of our favorite looks from the show closely represent the colors and textures that will be available to adorn to your windows, walls, sofas and more beginning in a few short months. Enjoy! -JP and AF
